The government has allocated GH¢499.8 million to implement the No-Academic-Fee policy for all first-year students in public tertiary institutions.

This initiative, dubbed "No-Fees-Stress," was announced by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson during the presentation of the 2025 Budget on March 11.

The policy aims to ease the financial burden on parents and students by covering academic fees, ensuring greater access to tertiary education, especially for economically disadvantaged students.

Additionally, the budget earmarks GH¢3.5 billion for Free SHS, GH¢564.6 million for free textbooks, and an expanded School Feeding Programme, which will receive GH¢1.788 billion—a 33% increase from last year’s allocation.

These measures reaffirm the government’s commitment to improving education access and affordability.
