Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George has issued a warning. He cautioned the public about fake job ads on social media. These ads falsely claim to be from Members of Parliament or government ministers.
He made this statement during an appearance on JoyNews’ PM Express on April 15th.
“Let me be very clear—no legitimate MP or government minister advertises jobs on Facebook or WhatsApp,” he said. He added that he is focused on his work in Ningo-Prampram and not offering jobs online. “These are scams designed to exploit the desperation of innocent citizens,” he noted.
Mr. George expressed concern over the rise in fake job offers. Impersonators use images and names of officials to deceive people. The issue affects national security and public trust.
“We’re working with law enforcement and the cybercrime unit,” he stated. They aim to track down and prosecute these scammers.
He urged Ghanaians to verify job offers through official channels. He warned scammers that authorities are actively pursuing them. “Anyone caught impersonating an official for fraudulent purposes will face the full rigour of the law,” he concluded.
