No arrests have been made in connection with the brutal attack on a Forestry Commission officer in the Offin Shelterbelt Reserve, Nkawie District Manager Abraham Essel has confirmed.
The victim, Rapid Response Team member Fuseini Sulemana, was ambushed and severely injured while cracking down on illegal mining activities in the Ashanti Region.
Authorities, including the divisional police command and regional security unit, have inspected the crime scene, but the attackers had fled, taking all mining equipment with them.
Sulemana remains hospitalised and is awaiting surgery, though his condition is stable. Essel, who has been by his side, remains hopeful for a successful procedure.
Security agencies continue investigations to apprehend the perpetrators.
