No fire tender goes to a scene without water – GNFS boss defends firefighters

In response to recent criticisms regarding the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Chief Fire Officer Edwin Ekow Blankson defended the firefighters, emphasizing that no fire tender is dispatched to a scene without water. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the service, including inadequate resources and aging equipment, which can hinder their response capabilities.

Blankson highlighted that despite these obstacles, firefighters are trained professionals who prioritize saving lives and property. He urged the public to understand the complexities of firefighting operations and not to place blame solely on the service when incidents occur. The GNFS is committed to improving its services and addressing any shortcomings.

The Chief Fire Officer also called for increased support from government agencies and stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency. By securing better funding and modern equipment, he believes that the GNFS can significantly improve its response times and overall effectiveness in combating fires across Ghana.
