No free dialysis anywhere, NPP's inadequate GH₵2m expired - Health Minister

Ghana's Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, has clarified that free dialysis services are not available anywhere in the country. Speaking at a recent health forum, he emphasized that while various initiatives aim to support patients with kidney disease, there is currently no provision for completely free dialysis treatment. The minister noted that the government recognizes the financial burden of such medical care and is exploring ways to improve access and affordability.

Agyemang-Manu acknowledged the challenges faced by patients requiring dialysis, which can be prohibitively expensive for many families. He highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure and services in Ghana, including partnerships with private entities to provide more affordable options for those in need. The minister also called for public awareness regarding kidney health and preventative measures.

This statement comes amid growing concerns over the increasing number of individuals suffering from kidney-related ailments in Ghana. As the government seeks to address these pressing health issues, stakeholders are urged to collaborate towards finding sustainable solutions for affected citizens.
