The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has cautioned Sammy Gyamfi. He is the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. This follows a controversial gifting incident.
A viral video showed Mr. Gyamfi giving dollar notes to Patricia Asieduaa. She is known as Mama Pat or Agradaa.
Mr. Gyamfi later apologized for his "unfortunate act of indiscretion." After this, he was summoned by the Presidency.
Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the matter is resolved. This was confirmed after Mr. Gyamfi's apology.
During a press briefing on May 14, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stated that no further actions are needed. The Presidency believes the apology and caution are sufficient.
He explained that the Chief of Staff acknowledged Mr. Gyamfi's apology. He also advised him to consider public sentiment in his actions.
The Minister emphasized that public officials must uphold higher standards than private citizens. "We must be sensitive to what Ghanaians expect from us," he added.
The Presidency has decided against any further disciplinary action beyond the warning. Mr. Kwakye Ofosu noted that they value feedback from the public.
He acknowledged that Ghanaians expect high standards from public officials. The government remains committed to delivering better governance for its people.
Mr. Gyamfi, who recently took on the acting CEO role, pledged to align his actions with public expectations moving forward.
