The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued a warning.
Starting June 21, 2025, individuals trading gold without a valid licence will face prosecution.
Sammy Gyamfi, the CEO of GoldBod, announced this at a meeting.
He confirmed there will be no further extensions for obtaining licences.
This follows an earlier one-month extension from May 21 to June 21, 2025.
Gyamfi urged the Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers to support compliance.
He said, “We should sustain this for the betterment of our people.”
He emphasized that anyone obstructing progress will face legal consequences.
“Encourage your members to apply for a licence,” he added.
Kwaku Amoah, CEO of the Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers, responded positively.
He pledged the group’s support in improving the gold trade sector.
Amoah urged members to register promptly for their licences.
“This is our second extension,” he noted.
“Our advocacy supports GoldBod’s efforts,” he continued.
“We encourage all members to register by June 21, 2025.”
