Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has rejected calls for budget release. This budget is for the Black Stars' matches against Chad and Madagascar.
Public demands for transparency in sports are growing. Many want the government to disclose spending on the national football team.
In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV, Adams explained his stance. He said it would be inappropriate to release the budget now. “You will know it when the time comes,” he stated.
Adams noted that the current budget is a working draft. Releasing it too early could cause speculation and misinterpretation. “It will be unfair to make a draft budget public,” he emphasized.
He assured Ghanaians that full disclosure will happen after all national team activities are done. The minister also promised no delays in presenting the budget for upcoming fixtures.
“There’s no way I’m going to allow delays in presentation of a budget,” he affirmed.
