The Ghana Police Service has denied reports about four officers being detained. These reports claimed the officers arrested a Circuit Court judge over a traffic offence.
Superintendent Joseph Benefo Darkwah, from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), issued a statement. He called the claims “false” and “baseless.”
The clarification follows a petition received by the CID on April 7, 2025. A Circuit Court Judge alleged that on December 13, 2024, four officers harassed her. The officers also assaulted her court clerk and towed her vehicle.
The judge stated she filed a formal complaint at the Adenta Divisional Command but received no response.
In response to the petition, the CID began an investigation. They invited the named officers—Inspector Francis Adjei, G/Sgt. Dasebre Oti Boateng, and G/Cpl Jonah Ajubulisa—to CID Headquarters.
The statement clarified that they were invited to share their side of the story. After giving their statements, they left immediately.
The CID emphasized that “at no point were the officers detained.” They urged the public to disregard these false publications.
