John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, has denied claims about being invited by security agencies. He stated that he did not receive any such invitation.
In a post on X, he challenged former Deputy Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu to provide proof of this claim. Fordjour said, “Kwakye Ofosu lied when he claimed I’ve been invited by security agencies.”
He accused the government and the NDC Parliamentary Caucus of blocking a Joint Security briefing. This briefing could have allowed collaboration between security agencies and Parliament on national security issues.
Fordjour explained that he had requested this briefing to share information with security agencies. However, he claimed it was blocked by the NDC Caucus and the government.
He also expressed concern over the government's silence regarding 12 containers filled with gold and cash seized on February 9. Additionally, he questioned updates on recent cocaine busts worth $500 million.
Fordjour noted that while Kwakye Ofosu confirmed suspicious flights' entry and departure, his reasons were unclear. He criticized the government for not providing updates on the seized containers or cocaine investigations.
He believes this lack of transparency raises concerns about illegal activities in the country. Fordjour stated, “Our country cannot be allowed to become a hub for cocaine and money laundering.”
