No threat to Akosombo Dam from bushfire – GNFS assures public

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has clarified that a viral video showing a bushfire on hilly terrain near Akosombo does not pose any threat to the Akosombo Dam.

GNFS stated that the fire is far from the dam and assured the public that personnel are monitoring the situation closely.

Although the rugged terrain prevents immediate firefighting, measures are in place to prevent the fire from spreading to residential or commercial areas.

Officers have been stationed around the dam for quick response, with GNFS urging calm and cooperation.

As part of its 2024/2025 Bushfire Prevention Campaign, GNFS is enhancing public awareness about fire safety and remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
