A delegation of Northern Chiefs from the Central Region visited Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah. They congratulated him on his recent appointment by President John Dramani Mahama.
The visit was marked by goodwill and constructive discussions. The chiefs praised the Mahama administration for its fair approach to the Bawku Chieftaincy conflict. They believe that trusting traditional conflict resolution is vital for lasting peace.
Dr. Omane Boamah thanked the chiefs for their visit and support. He called it a meaningful gesture that strengthens ties between government and traditional leaders. He appreciated their recognition of the government's impartial stance on the Bawku issue.
The chiefs also discussed future recruitments into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). They shared ideas on ensuring inclusivity in recruitment, especially for youth from northern communities in the Central Region.
Dr. Omane Boamah found their input "objective and forward-looking." He assured them that the Ministry of Defence is committed to broadening opportunities for all qualified Ghanaians in the armed forces.
