Notorious robbery suspect captured in Togo, extradited to Ghana

The Ghana Police Service, with help from the Togolese Police, has made an arrest. They captured Adina Akpo Abdou Moudjibou, also known as Mohammed Djandjo. He was found in Togo after an INTERPOL red notice was issued.

Moudjibou is suspected of several high-profile robberies in Accra. These crimes occurred in wealthy neighborhoods like East Legon and Cantonments between 2022 and 2024. He was arrested by Togolese authorities on January 30, 2025.

On May 12, 2025, he was handed over to the Ghana Police. This transfer followed a regional cooperation agreement signed in December 2003.

At a press briefing in Accra on Saturday, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor confirmed the arrest. She stated that the police had been pursuing Moudjibou for some time.

His activities were recorded on CCTV and shared widely online. The suspect mainly targeted high-profile individuals living in elite communities.

These areas included East Legon, Cantonments, Ridge, Tesano, Airport Residential Area, and Adjiringano. DCOP Donkor recalled a public assurance made by the police in October 2023.

She noted that the Ghana Police Service promised to actively pursue this case. Following this assurance, they increased security operations and intelligence-gathering efforts.

Their work led to a formal operation to capture Moudjibou. On May 14, 2025, at around 08:30 hours, a five-member delegation from Ghana flew to Lome, Togo.

DCOP Donkor led the delegation to officially receive Moudjibou from Togolese authorities.
