Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri, has called for urgent action. He wants state security agencies to intervene after a violent clash in Nsawam Adoagyiri. This clash resulted in one death, several injuries, and property damage.
Annoh-Dompreh linked the violence to ongoing tensions between two communities. These are the residents of Adoagyiri and Adoagyiri Zongo. What started as a dispute quickly escalated into chaos. Residents and business owners are now fearful.
The MP urged the Ghana Police Service and National Security to act quickly. He emphasized the need for efforts to address underlying tensions. “This is not just about maintaining order for today,” he said. He called for collaboration among leaders, security agencies, and community stakeholders.
Residents and traders feel shaken by this incident. Many are asking for stronger security measures and community dialogue to prevent future unrest.
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP for Klottey Korle, reacted to the clash as well. She connected it to unresolved chieftaincy and land disputes across Ghana. Currently, there are over 200 such disputes in the country.
Many of these disputes have turned violent, threatening national stability. Dr. Rawlings noted a troubling trend of violence in resolving conflicts. She stressed that this behavior violates the law.
She called for an apolitical approach to resolving these issues. The government should take a more proactive role in mediation efforts.
While acknowledging police efforts, Dr. Rawlings highlighted the need for broader discussions on root causes. She also urged equipping relevant ministries with necessary resources.
Both MPs emphasized collaboration among security agencies, traditional authorities, and community leaders. This cooperation is essential for lasting peace in affected areas.
