Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), called Nsoatreman Football Club's withdrawal from the league "unfortunate."
Nsoatreman announced their exit from the 2024/25 season. They cited concerns over the "security and safety" of their players.
This decision follows a tragic incident where Asante Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong Pooley was stabbed during a match on February 2.
Supporters were reportedly angry and planned to retaliate after this event. Nsoatreman faced an alleged attack in Kukuom while traveling to play Samartex at Bibiani Duns Park.
Okraku spoke about this situation on Asempa FM. He expressed sympathy for Ignatius Baffour Awuah, a friend who has invested in football.
He stated, "It’s unfortunate for someone to go through that." However, he acknowledged that it is ultimately Nsoatreman's decision.
He emphasized the importance of respecting people's choices in difficult times.
