Ntim Fordjour’s allegations are baseless – Adu Asare

Former MP for Adentan, Kojo Adu Asare, has rejected claims by Rev. Ntim Fordjour. Fordjour alleged that drug trafficking has increased under the NDC government. Adu Asare called these claims “wild allegations” without evidence.

“I am shocked the president took him seriously,” Adu Asare said. He criticized the government for wasting resources on such issues.

“He is a Member of Parliament, not a security expert,” he added. Responding to every minority MP's press conference would hinder progress.

Adu Asare pointed out that Rev. Fordjour provided no proof for his claims. “I listened to him, and he did not produce any evidence,” he stated. He accused Fordjour of calling for resource waste based on mere suspicion.

He also claimed the opposition aims to tarnish the NDC’s reputation with unfounded accusations. “They are trying to equalize, but it won’t work,” he said. The NDC has made significant drug busts in just a few months in power.

“If there was drug trafficking before, why pretend this is new?” he asked. Adu Asare urged Rev. Fordjour to be truthful and responsible in his statements.

“A Reverend Minister should know better,” he remarked. “If you allege something, you must prove it.” He suggested the president should have ignored these claims instead of entertaining them.

The former legislator also addressed concerns about alleged gold smuggling raised by the opposition. He acknowledged that such matters deserve scrutiny and attention.

“That is a legitimate issue,” he noted about media coverage during a swoop on gold smuggling activities. People deserve to know what actions have been taken regarding this issue.

Adu Asare warned against spreading baseless accusations and urged focus on facts instead of speculation. “We are a serious government here to work,” he emphasized.

“If they allowed their party to rot with scandals, we will not do the same.” He concluded that Ghanaians deserve better governance.
