Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has made serious claims. He alleges connections between flights and cocaine trafficking in Ghana.
Fordjour believes his evidence contradicts recent denials from the government. Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu and others dismissed these allegations as false.
On Metro TV's Good Evening Ghana, hosted by Paul Adom Otchere, Fordjour stood by his claims. He provided more details to support his assertions.
He mentioned specific flights that raised concerns. “It is not mere speculation,” he said. “The records exist, and authorities are aware.” He urged the government to be transparent with the public.
Fordjour also claimed some flights received diplomatic clearance without proper checks. This loophole allows illicit activities to occur.
“When security protocols are bypassed under diplomatic privilege,” he stated, “it creates a cover for criminal networks.”
He called for an independent investigation into these matters. Fordjour urged Parliament to summon key officials and the national security Coordinator.
He emphasized that national security should take precedence over political interests. “This is a matter of national integrity,” he concluded. “We cannot ignore it because it is politically inconvenient.”
