Rev. John Ntim Fordjour is the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee. He has called for an immediate investigation into financial misconduct at the National Security Secretariat.
His request follows claims from Kwabena Adu-Boahene, a former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau. Adu-Boahene alleged that public funds meant for national security were diverted to political campaigns and parliamentary committees.
On May 7, 2025, Rev. Ntim Fordjour posted on social media about these revelations. He described them as “shocking, scary and a major national security scandal.”
He cited specific amounts allegedly misused for political purposes. These include GH¢8.3 million for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 election campaign. Additionally, he mentioned GH¢960,000 to the Defence and Interior Committee in 2020/21 for legislation passage. There was also GH¢309,000 to the Subsidiary Legislation Committee in 2024 and GH¢5.135 million spent on President Mahama’s special aides in December 2024.
Fordjour stressed that taxpayers deserve transparency in this matter. He stated that “this must not be politics as usual.”
He urged the Inspector-General of Police, Auditor-General, and relevant parliamentary bodies to act quickly. They should launch a credible investigation to uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable.
Fordjour emphasized that only a transparent probe can restore public trust in Ghana’s national security institutions.
In his post, he expressed his concerns clearly:
“This is shocking, scary and a major National Security scandal!
8.3 million cedis support for NDC at the peak of 2024 election campaign?
960,000 cedis for Defence & Interior Committee in 2020/21 for passing legislation?
309,000 cedis for Subsidiary Legislation Committee in 2024…”
