Ntim Fordjour dismisses reports of defamation suit from Dafeamekpor

Member of Parliament for Assin South, Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has addressed recent reports about a lawsuit. His colleague, South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, is suing him over alleged defamatory comments.

Reports indicate that Dafeamekpor's legal action follows comments made by Ntim Fordjour. These comments allegedly linked Dafeamekpor to attempts to undermine Ghana’s judiciary and the Chief Justice's integrity.

The lawsuit involves claims of defamation and character assassination. It has generated significant public and political interest.

On May 16, 2025, Ntim Fordjour released a statement regarding the situation. He noted that he had seen media reports but had not received any legal documents.

“Media reports of a suit supposedly filed by my colleague have come to my attention,” he stated. “However, I have not been served with any such suit.”

Fordjour expressed his anticipation for the official service of the lawsuit. He is confident he can prove it lacks merit.

“I await the service of the supposed suit and will demonstrate its lack of merit,” he added.

The tension between the two MPs appears to arise from heated political discussions. These discussions followed controversial judicial appointments and debates on parliamentary oversight.

Dafeamekpor is known for advocating judicial reform and transparency. He has criticized what he sees as partisan interference in the judiciary, which may have prompted Fordjour's remarks.
