Ntim Fordjour was invited for investigations through Afenyo-Markin - Kwakye Ofosu

Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has made a statement. He said Assin South MP, Ntim Fordjour, was invited for questioning by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB). This invitation came through the Minority Leader, Afenyo-Markin.

This follows Fordjour's denial of being summoned by the NIB. The investigation involves two aircraft grounded at Kotoka International Airport. These planes are suspected of transporting cocaine and large sums of money.

On Eyewitness News on April 4, Kwakye Ofosu clarified Fordjour’s situation. He explained that Afenyo-Markin facilitated the invitation from the NIB. However, Afenyo-Markin later stated that Fordjour was speaking on behalf of the Defence and Intelligence Committee. Because of this, he chose not to attend.

Kwakye Ofosu also mentioned that the NIB has written to the Speaker of Parliament. They formally requested Fordjour’s release for questioning. He stated, “If he says he was not invited, it is not true.”

He added that if Fordjour refuses to go for questioning, he could be arrested. When questioned by the NIB, he can share his side of the story.

In response, Ntim Fordjour spoke on Eyewitness News as well. He insisted that no official invitation had been sent to him. “It is a lie because MPs are not invited through their leaders,” he said.

Fordjour argued that invitations are sent directly to MPs via letters. He questioned whether other minority members were invited through their leader and concluded they were not.
