The Ghana Nurse-Midwives Trainees Association (GNMTA) has commended the government for maintaining the Nursing and Midwifery Training Allowance, with GH₵480 million allocated in the new budget.
The association says this support helps ease financial burdens on trainees.
However, GNMTA is concerned about rising training fees, calling them a barrier for many aspiring nurses. They urged the government to review the costs to ensure accessibility.
The group also pressed for the immediate employment of 2021 and 2022 nursing graduates who remain jobless despite completing national service.
They emphasized that absorbing these professionals would help address Ghana’s healthcare challenges.
GNMTA reaffirmed its commitment to policies that support trainees and called for continued collaboration with the government.
