Nursing trainee allowances to be paid in January 2026 – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has assured nursing trainees about their allowances. He announced that payments will start in January 2026. This announcement was made on Thursday, May 29. It took place during a thank-you tour at the College of Health in Kintampo, Bono East Region.

While addressing students and staff, President Mahama acknowledged the delays in payments. He pledged his administration’s commitment to resolving this issue. “On the issue of ‘allawa’—let me assure you that the minister has made adequate provision in the budget for payment,” he stated.

He confirmed that allowances would be paid starting in January. Trainees will also receive their outstanding arrears at that time. The president explained that delays were due to efforts to improve the payment system.

“The minister is putting in a system so you will be paid through the Comptroller and Accountant General,” he added. This new system aims to ensure consistent monthly payments for trainees alongside workers' salaries.

The announcement brought excitement and relief to students and faculty members. They welcomed the government's renewed commitment to addressing their financial challenges.
