Nyinahin community in darkness after shooting incident

Nyinahin, a community in the Atwima Mponua District, is in darkness. This follows a violent clash between military personnel and civilians. The confrontation resulted in one death and four injuries.

Benjamin Obeng Antwi is the Public Relations Officer for ECG Ashanti West. He spoke to Channel One News about the situation. A stray bullet damaged an ECG transformer during the altercation.

This damage caused a power outage in parts of Nyinahin. ECG officials have visited the scene for an initial assessment. They plan to conduct a more thorough evaluation soon.

Antwi mentioned that engineers will assess the transformer tomorrow. They could not do this today due to ongoing chaos. He hopes there is no damage beyond leaking oil.

If only oil needs topping up, power can be restored quickly. However, he noted that they cannot provide a specific timeline for full restoration yet.
