Healthcare services at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital's Outpatient Department (OPDs) have stopped. This is due to a strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA). The strike has now entered its third day.
The strike began because the government delayed improving working conditions. As a result, patients at the OPDs are struggling to receive care. Nurses and midwives have withdrawn their services.
David Tenkorang, GRNMA Secretary, spoke on JoyNews’ The Pulse show. He stated that the association will not negotiate until their agreed terms are implemented. These terms were thoroughly discussed and officially signed.
Mr. Tenkorang stressed that their demands are reasonable and achievable. He said they have been patient with the government for long enough. He urged them to focus on meeting these demands quickly.
