President John Dramani Mahama announced that the Attorney-General is building 33 corruption cases. These cases involve former government appointees. They result from investigations by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team.
President Mahama established this anti-corruption task force after his 2024 election victory. The team focused on suspected corruption under the previous administration. It gathered information and forwarded it to state institutions for action.
The ORAL Team has five members, chaired by MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. Other members include former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo and retired Police Commissioner Nathaniel Kofi Boakye. Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu and investigative journalist Raymond Archer are also part of the team.
After their investigation, the ORAL Team submitted findings to the Attorney-General's Office. This will lead to further investigation and potential prosecution.
During a meeting with the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption, President Mahama spoke about these cases. He said court proceedings would begin soon for the 33 cases identified by the ORAL Committee.
He mentioned that special investigative teams are looking into each case. Some investigations have uncovered evidence of illicit property acquisitions. Many cases are at the start of prosecution, while others have already begun legal proceedings.
