The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta wanted again. This follows his failure to report to the OSP’s headquarters as required.
Previously, Mr. Ofori-Atta was temporarily removed from the wanted list. He was expected to honor a scheduled appearance but did not. This breach has led to his reinstatement as a wanted person.
The announcement coincides with significant developments at the OSP. They have uncovered a GH₵280 million corruption scandal at the National Petroleum Authority (NPA). Many top officials are implicated in this case.
Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng revealed that investigations began in November 2024. These investigations exposed systemic abuse of office and financial misconduct at the NPA from 2022 to 2024.
Additionally, the OSP has reopened an investigation into former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah. This decision came after a formal request from new leadership within the investigative body.
The OSP has forwarded a duplicate of her case docket to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). They will review it for possible renewed investigation.
In another matter, the OSP accepted a plea bargain proposal from Andy Thomas Owusu. He is the second accused in a corruption trial involving Charles Bissue, former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).
