Frank Davies is part of the legal team for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. He has criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for treating his client unfairly.
Ofori-Atta requested to appear virtually before the OSP due to health issues. He missed an in-person session scheduled for June 2. The OSP has not yet responded but warned that non-compliance could lead to an Interpol Red Notice.
Davies spoke with Channel One News’ Hanson Agyemang about this situation. He argued that placing Ofori-Atta on a Red Notice would be unjust.
“Ken Ofori-Atta has been unwell for some time now,” Davies said. “His medical condition did not start after leaving office.” He added that Ofori-Atta has been receiving treatment abroad for several months.
Davies explained that medical advice supports reconsidering the June 2 appointment. He confirmed there was an agreement for Ofori-Atta to appear then, but insists a virtual interview is reasonable now.
He rejected claims that Ofori-Atta is evading the process. “Is physical presence the only legal form of engagement?” he asked. “We hold video interviews every day—why should this be different?”
