Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng met with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) on Thursday, April 3, 2025. The meeting aimed to strengthen the fight against corruption in Ghana through public education.
They discussed using the NCCE’s nationwide network to raise anti-corruption awareness. Mr. Agyebeng stressed that preventing corruption is a key role of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). He noted that reshaping public attitudes towards corruption is essential. This includes instilling a culture of integrity from the grassroots level.
Kathleen Addy, Chairperson of the NCCE, expressed enthusiasm about their partnership. She recognized the Commission’s extensive reach as valuable for educating citizens about corruption. Madam Addy stated that the NCCE is dedicated to empowering Ghanaians to uphold ethical standards.
The meeting also addressed vote-buying and selling ahead of future elections. Both institutions agreed that prevention efforts should continue beyond election periods. Accompanying Mr. Agyebeng was Samuel Appiah Darko, Director for Strategy, Research and Communications at OSP.
The NCCE delegation included Chairperson Kathleen Addy and Deputy Chairpersons Samuel Asare Akuamoah and Victor Brobbey, along with other senior officials. They agreed to explore strategies for mobilizing resources for anti-corruption campaigns. Their goal is to reshape public perceptions and prevent corrupt practices in Ghana effectively.
