OSP engaging in psychological games over Ofori-Atta – Martin Amidu

Former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of manipulating public perception. He claims this is part of a media campaign against former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. Ofori-Atta is currently receiving medical treatment in the United States.

In an open letter to MyNewsGH, Amidu criticized the OSP's threats made on June 1, 2025. The OSP warned it would declare Ofori-Atta a wanted person if he did not appear the next day. They also mentioned starting INTERPOL Red Notice procedures for his arrest and extradition.

Amidu stated that the OSP is using psychological operations against the public. He noted that on the same day, GhanaWeb reported that Ofori-Atta’s legal team had informed both the Human Rights Court and the OSP about his health issues.

“Ken Ofori-Atta’s lawyers formally notified them of his inability to attend,” Amidu said. This was due to a decline in his health while in the U.S.

He added that Ofori-Atta’s medical team provided reports detailing his condition and planned surgeries.

Amidu questioned why the OSP issued its threat publicly when they had access to court records.

“The public deserves to know when Ken Ofori-Atta’s lawyers informed these bodies about his health,” he said. He also asked why the OSP felt it necessary to inform the public on June 1, 2025, when court records were already available for media review.
