OSP insists it has no medical report on Ken Ofori-Atta

Samuel Appiah Darko, the Director of Strategy at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), spoke to journalists on June 2. He stated that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has not submitted any medical report. This contradicts claims made by Ofori-Atta's legal team.

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng accused Ofori-Atta of acting in bad faith. He said the office's patience has run out.

"Since January 24, Mr. Ofori-Atta has not produced a medical report," Agyebeng noted. He mentioned that Ofori-Atta had planned surgery in March but did not update the OSP about his condition.

The OSP views a letter from Ofori-Atta’s lawyers dated May 28 as bad faith. They believe he does not intend to return to Ghana or attend the OSP.

Ofori-Atta's lawyers informed the OSP that he is battling cancer.

On June 3, Darko clarified on JoyNews' AM Show that no medical report has been provided. "The suspect claims he is sick and cannot come," he explained.

He emphasized that without proof of treatment, the OSP reinstated Ofori-Atta on its wanted list.

Darko pointed out that all health claims are based solely on statements from the lawyers. "There is only a letter stating he is sick and needs surgery," he said.

The case against Ken Ofori-Atta involves investigations into alleged financial misconduct during his time as Minister of Finance.
