The Office of the Special Prosecutor has declared Ken Ofori-Atta wanted. He is a former finance minister and now a fugitive of justice. An INTERPOL Red Notice has been issued for his extradition to Ghana.
On June 2, Kissi Agyebeng spoke to the media. He said he triggered the process for the INTERPOL notice about 30 minutes before his statement. This notice allows for Ofori-Atta's international arrest and extradition.
Agyebeng emphasized that they want Ofori-Atta located and arrested in any jurisdiction. He stated, “We want him here physically, and we insist on it.”
The Special Prosecutor rejected Ofori-Atta's request for a virtual session. Agyebeng insisted that he must appear in person at their office.
He explained that they have always requested his attendance. If they were willing to take statements remotely, they would have done so earlier.
Agyebeng added, “A suspect does not choose how investigations are conducted.” The office will not accept this behavior from Ofori-Atta.
The OSP has accused him of causing financial loss to the state. This includes issues related to the National Cathedral project and contracts with various agencies.
