OSP treats Ken Ofori-Atta like a 'common criminal' – Kwabena Agyapong

Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, former General Secretary of the NPP, is unhappy with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). He criticized their handling of Ken Ofori-Atta's case.

In an interview with Citi FM on June 3rd, he said Ofori-Atta is being treated “like a common criminal.” Agyapong called this treatment unlawful.

He stated, "The way he [Special Prosecutor] is going about it is wrong." He emphasized that there has been no proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

Agyapong urged that the proper procedure is to go to court. If the Special Prosecutor believes he has enough evidence, he should prosecute.

He also encouraged civil society organizations to speak out against prosecutorial overreach.

His comments came after the OSP labeled Ofori-Atta a fugitive. This was due to his failure to return and respond to corruption charges.

The OSP claims Ofori-Atta has not cooperated. They noted he did not provide medical documentation for his extended stay abroad.

Agyapong insists that the OSP must operate within legal limits. He believes they should avoid actions that undermine individuals' dignity during investigations.
