OSP treats Ken Ofori-Atta like a 'common criminal' – Kwabena Agyapong fumes

Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, former General Secretary of the NPP, is unhappy with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). He criticized their handling of Ken Ofori-Atta's case.

In an interview with Citi FM on June 3rd, he said Ofori-Atta is being treated “like a common criminal.” Agyapong called this treatment unlawful.

He stated, "The way he [Special Prosecutor] is going about it is wrong." He emphasized that there has been no proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

Agyapong urged that such behavior should not be encouraged. He believes the proper step is to go to court and establish a prosecution if there’s enough evidence.

He also called on civil society organizations to oppose what he sees as prosecutorial overreach.

His comments came after the OSP labeled Ofori-Atta a fugitive. This was due to his failure to return home for charges related to alleged corruption and abuse of office.

The OSP claims that Ofori-Atta has not cooperated. They noted he did not provide medical documentation for his extended stay abroad.

Agyapong insists that the OSP must operate within legal limits. He believes they should avoid actions that undermine individuals' dignity during investigations.
