OSP wasting public resources – NPP’s Kofi Tonto fires Kissi Agyebeng

Kofi Tonto, a political aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and Kissi Agyebeng.

He claimed that they are wasting public resources. Tonto urged the OSP to go to court instead of holding press conferences about Ken Ofori-Atta.

In an interview on Asempa FM, he said, “The Office of the Special Prosecutor is wasting public resources.” He added that if they have evidence against Ofori-Atta, they should act quickly.

Tonto emphasized that a solid case should lead to court action. He stated that this media trial erodes public trust and wastes taxpayer money.

His comments followed the OSP's rejection of Ofori-Atta's request for a virtual session. Kissi Agyebeng insisted that he must appear in person at the OSP.

Agyebeng explained, “This office has always requested his attendance.” He noted that if they were willing to accept statements remotely, it would have happened earlier.

He stressed that suspects cannot dictate how investigations are conducted. The Special Prosecutor also mentioned initiating an INTERPOL red notice for Ofori-Atta’s arrest.

Agyebeng revealed, “I triggered processes for the issuance of an INTERPOL red notice.” This could lead to international arrest and extradition for Ofori-Atta.

The OSP previously accused him of causing financial loss to the state in various dealings. These include issues related to the National Cathedral and contracts with Ghana Revenue Authority and Health Ministry.
