Former Ghana Post Managing Director, Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, has dismissed allegations of irregular recruitment under his leadership.
His response follows the dismissal of nearly 100 workers by Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George, who is reviewing the recruitment of about 600 staff across the ministry and its agencies.
Speaking on Adom FM, Obour clarified that Ghana Post conducts annual recruitments to replace retirees and does not require financial clearance since it operates as an independent company.
“We pay our workers without relying on the Controller and Accountant General’s Department or the Consolidated Fund,” he explained.
Obour expressed surprise at the dismissals, stating that both he and some board members were unaware of any wrongdoing and questioned the rationale behind the decision.
