The Odumase Police Command is searching for a suspected carjacker. His name is Solomon Siaw Tetteh. He is believed to be the leader of a car theft ring in the Krobo area of the Eastern Region.
Tetteh and his group target vehicle owners. They follow their victims home and steal their cars. The stolen vehicles are taken to a hideout in Nuaso, Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
In an unusual twist, the group dismantles the stolen cars. They cut up car bodies and turn them into coal pots. They also strip valuable parts like engines, seats, and tyres to sell separately.
Last weekend, they stole a Hyundai H100 from a driver in Nkurakan near Koforidua. The owner had installed a GPS tracker on the vehicle. He received an alert and quickly contacted the police.
Officers from Police Headquarters coordinated with local police to set up an ambush. They went to the location indicated by the tracking device. Their quick response led to the arrest of three suspects at the scene.
These suspects admitted their involvement in the thefts. However, Solomon Siaw Tetteh escaped arrest after receiving a tip-off. He fled just before police arrived at his hideout, which was near where they found the stolen vehicle.
The Odumase Police are actively searching for Tetteh. They are committed to dismantling this criminal syndicate. Meanwhile, the three arrested suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
