Offinso youth accuse Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs of stalling chieftaincy dispute

Tensions are rising in Offinso as the Offinso Youth Association accuses the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs of deliberately delaying a crucial chieftaincy dispute.

The controversy centers on the legitimacy of the current Offinso chief, Nana Amoako Poku, whose installation was sanctioned by the Manhyia Palace but is being challenged by the Ashirem royal family.

The youth group, led by Berima Yaw Nkansah, has expressed frustration over repeated adjournments of the case, alleging that certain committee members, including Berima Tweneboa Kodua and Berima Amankwah Adunan, are intentionally obstructing justice.

They suspect external influences from Manhyia are prolonging the matter and have vowed to take action if the delays persist.

The dispute follows the destoolment of the Offinso queen mother, Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko, by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II over alleged mismanagement of the nomination process.

Despite the installation of a new chief, divisions within the community remain unresolved.

Fearing possible unrest, the youth association has called on the government to intervene and ensure a swift resolution before the situation escalates.
