Ofori-Atta’s conduct unacceptable, why does he want special treatment? – OSP quizzes

Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, criticized former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta. He called Ofori-Atta's conduct unacceptable.

Agyebeng questioned why Ofori-Atta seeks special treatment. He noted that his office investigated a former president without chasing him around.

On June 2, Agyebeng spoke to the media about this issue. He emphasized that Ofori-Atta should not expect different treatment. “It ends here and it ends now!” he stated.

The Special Prosecutor denied Ofori-Atta's request for a virtual session. Agyebeng insisted that he must appear in person at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

He explained, “This office has always requested his attendance.” They have made it clear they will not waive this requirement. If they were willing to take statements remotely, they would have done so earlier.

Agyebeng stressed that a suspect cannot dictate how investigations are conducted. “We will not countenance this conduct,” he added.

Additionally, Agyebeng announced plans for an INTERPOL red notice against Ofori-Atta. This could lead to international arrest and extradition.

“About 30 minutes before this brief, I triggered processes for the issuance of an INTERPOL red notice,” he revealed.

The OSP has accused Ofori-Atta of causing financial loss to the state in various dealings. These include issues related to the National Cathedral and contracts with the Ghana Revenue Authority and other entities.
