Olive Tower Prayer Ministries, Unilever Ghana hold free health screening for 700 Pokuase M.A. Basic School students

Pokuase, Ghana — Olive Tower Prayer Ministries partnered with Unilever Ghana and Oduman Polyclinic. They organized a free dental and optical health screening for over 700 students. This event took place on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Pokuase M.A. Basic School.

The outreach aimed to promote preventive healthcare among school-aged children. It positively impacted the health of pupils, teachers, and staff. Traditional leaders and municipal authorities also supported the initiative.

Apostle Dr. Mrs. Portia Olivia Lamptey is the founder of Olive Tower Prayer Ministries. She stated that investing in children's health ensures a healthy future for everyone. The screening was part of the church’s commitment to holistic ministry.

“Healthy children mean a healthy nation,” she said. “This outreach reflects our commitment to community transformation.”

Madam Dora Gakpa is the Headmistress of Pokuase M.A. Basic School. She expressed gratitude to the organizers and partners during her welcome address. “The health of our students is crucial for academic success,” she said.

She also appealed for support to build a wall around the school. This would prevent encroachment and unauthorized entry.

Unilever Ghana educated students on proper oral hygiene during the event. They donated Pepsodent toothpaste to all 700 students present. Representatives advised brushing twice daily to prevent tooth decay.

Medical personnel from Oduman Polyclinic conducted oral and eye examinations at the school. Dr Newton led the team and provided valuable health education.

“Cavities are preventable with good oral habits,” he urged students. He also emphasized that diet plays a major role in overall health.

The outreach was attended by notable figures like Queen Mother Naa Klorkai Densua IV and Madam Gifty Addison from Ga North Municipal Health Education Department. Their presence showed strong community interest in student welfare.

The Queen Mother called it “a timely intervention.” The Ga North Municipal Coordinating Director praised the organizers and encouraged similar initiatives in other schools.

Apostle Dr Mrs Portia Olivia Lamptey mentioned plans for more outreach programs soon. Olive Tower Prayer Ministries aims to replicate these health screenings in nearby schools and underserved communities.
