Youth activist Oliver Barker Vormawor insists that Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare must be removed, calling it "non-negotiable" without providing further justification.
Meanwhile, during his vetting, Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak stated he cannot confirm whether Dampare will stay or be removed, noting that President Mahama will decide based on his governance vision.
He emphasized that security leadership changes are assessed in the national interest.
Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu also explained that a security head does not need to commit a crime to be replaced.
He noted that leadership changes in security agencies are common when a new government takes over, adding that if Dampare is removed, it should not come as a surprise.
