Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, former Director of Elections for the NDC, has made a call. He urged the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana to ensure transparency and accountability. This is especially important for the parliamentary results in Ablekuma North.
He asked the EC, led by Jean Mensa, to uphold fairness. There were disputed polling station results during the December 7 elections. Dr. Boamah noted that elections should be rerun in affected areas due to missing pink sheets.
“Electoral Commission Ghana, re-run the disputed polling stations,” he stated. He emphasized that procedural integrity is crucial.
Dr. Boamah, now Minister for Defence, made these remarks after a Minority march. The march was to demand the release of results from Ablekuma North.
He warned the EC to learn from past controversies in other constituencies. In 2020, several areas lacked parliamentary representation due to issues with the EC and NPP actions.
Dr. Boamah stressed that democratic governance relies on three principles: every vote counts, every voice is heard, and every citizen is represented.
He concluded by urging Ghanaians to demand transparency from the EC. This will help protect the integrity of Ghana’s democratic processes.
