Defence Minister Dr. Omane Boamah has responded to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Dr. Bawumia recently commented on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 elections. He cited several reasons for this defeat.
These included issues with the National Cathedral project and party divisions. He claimed that public trust was damaged by the $58 million spent on the Cathedral.
During his Thank You Tour launch in Takoradi, Dr. Bawumia emphasized internal conflicts weakened their campaign. He noted that criticisms from NPP members were used by the opposition NDC against them.
“Unity is key in every group endeavor,” he said, referring to their challenges in 2024. He added that NDC replayed comments from NPP members to undermine their efforts.
In response, Dr. Omane Boamah challenged Bawumia's claims. He accused Bawumia of avoiding personal responsibility for the NPP’s economic issues while in power.
“Elections 2024: Bawumia is blaming everything and everybody EXCEPT HIMSELF,” he stated on social media. “Bawumia was critical for NPP’s economic mess!”
