One dead, four injured in Nyinahin clash between civilians and military

A deadly confrontation occurred in Nyinahin, Ashanti Region. One person died and four others were injured. The incident happened on Thursday, April 24, 2025, around 10:30 a.m. It took place during a funeral for a young man.

Three injured individuals are at the Nyinahin Government Hospital. One person was transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for specialized care. Clinton Darko, the Assembly Member for Nyinahin Bubuom Electoral Area, spoke to Citi News about the event.

He said military personnel encountered young men in military uniforms. The officers asked them to remove their uniforms. This request led to a heated exchange and a scuffle.

The situation escalated quickly with stones thrown and gunshots fired. Akwasi Lala, known as Kushibi, was killed at age 37. Four others were injured during the chaos.

Darko reported that the military personnel fled after the shooting. Police have been deployed to restore calm in the area. They are also investigating the incident further.
