Foreign Affairs Minister-Designate Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has refuted reports that 6,200 Ghanaians face imminent deportation from the U.S., clarifying that only 156 individuals are affected.

Speaking during his vetting, Ablakwa cited official information from U.S. authorities, assuring that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively engaging with American officials to protect the rights of those impacted.

He urged the public to disregard exaggerated figures circulating in the media.

Since President Donald Trump’s inauguration, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified deportations, with over 3,500 undocumented immigrants arrested.

Ablakwa’s statement aims to provide clarity amid growing concerns over U.S. immigration policies affecting Ghanaians.
