Minister George Opare-Addo announced plans to review the sanitation module under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA). This review is part of a broader assessment of YEA's programs.
He spoke during an interview on Channel One TV’s The Point of View with Bernard Avle. The review will start after the new YEA Board is sworn in on Wednesday, May 7.
Opare-Addo stated, “One key thing I will tell the board is to assess all modules.” He wants to evaluate how these programs have impacted communities.
Currently, there is no contract with Zoomlion, the waste management firm that previously partnered with YEA. Opare-Addo said they will assess the sanitation module's impact before deciding whether to continue it.
He also mentioned that they will open up tenders for other companies to participate. Future tenders will be conducted regionally across all 16 regions.
The Parliamentary Committee on Sanitation has urged the government to keep Zoomlion’s contract with YEA.
