Opare Addo urges NSA board to remove ghost names with tech reforms

The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has a message. He urged the new National Service Board to tackle ghost names urgently.

This statement was made during the board's inauguration on May 19. The board consists of eight members and is chaired by Okai Mintah.

In his speech, the Minister highlighted the need for a thorough clean-up of the National Service Scheme. He wants to restore public confidence in its operations.

“I challenge you to focus on a systematic overhaul,” he said. “Technology must be at the forefront of this effort.”

He emphasized that they need to address vulnerabilities in the current system. These weaknesses have allowed corruption to thrive.

The Minister called for a complete overhaul using technology. This will help create a more secure and transparent platform.

“Create a robust auditing system to eliminate ghost names,” he added. He noted that President Mahama does not want to hear about ghost names again.
