Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang supports calls for legal measures. These measures would hold public and private officials accountable for unexplained wealth. She emphasized the Mahama-led government’s commitment to fighting corruption.
The Vice President plans to introduce the Conduct of Public Officers Bill in Parliament. This bill will include input from anti-corruption organizations. She stated that it aims to create a strong and lasting law.
“The revised Conduct of Public Officers Bill will reflect views from various stakeholders,” she said. This includes civil society organizations, anti-corruption institutions, and the media.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also called for better funding for anti-corruption agencies. This funding is essential to protect their operations from political interference. “We must ensure sustainable financing to enhance independence,” she added.
In other news, Ghanaians no longer need visas to travel to Morocco.
