Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni, former CEO of COCOBOD, walked free on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, after nearly seven years of legal battles.
Reacting to the outcome, he proclaimed that his faith in God had led to the disgrace of his adversaries.
The Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, formally withdrew all charges against Opuni and businessman Seidu Agongo, who had been accused of causing a GH¢271 million financial loss in fertiliser deals.
The court, presided over by Justice Aboagye Tandoh, acquitted and discharged both men, ordering the return of their passports.
The trial, marked by lengthy proceedings and expert testimonies, ended with Opuni and Agongo maintaining their innocence throughout.
