Oquaye report not for Ghanaians; it’s a private document – Joe Wise

Joseph Osei-Owusu, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), explained why the party won't share its post-election report. He is a former Member of Parliament for Bekwai.

Osei-Owusu said the report will guide future actions and reorganization. The NPP suffered a significant defeat in the December 7, 2024 elections. The party lost both the presidency and its parliamentary majority.

The NPP received the final report from a committee led by Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye. This committee investigated the reasons behind the party's electoral loss.

The report was presented at an emergency National Executive Committee meeting on April 16. This meeting took place at Alisa Hotel in Accra.

NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong confirmed receipt of the report. He assured that its contents would be communicated later.

Osei-Owusu spoke about calls to make the report public during an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on April 28. He noted that it has been shared with members of the National Council, which represents NPP leadership.

He emphasized that this report is a strategic tool for internal use only. It is not meant for public discussion or disclosure to non-party members.

“The national council has been fully briefed,” he stated. “This information will help us reorganize and relaunch our party.”
