Osei Tutu Senior High School won the 2025 ACE Spoken Word Competition. They received a cash prize of GHS 7,000. The grand finale was on May 23, 2025. It took place at the KNUST Great Hall Auditorium in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
The Spoken Word programme promotes education and English literacy. It also builds confidence in local communities, especially among students. Kumasi Academy was the first runner-up and earned GHS 5,000.
This year's competition featured four finalist schools: Osei Tutu SHS, Kumasi Academy, KNUST SHS, and Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ SHS. ACE Consult organized the event with the US Embassy. The theme for this edition was “Volunteerism.”
Marilyn Owusu is the CEO of ACE Consult and Executive Director of American Corner-Kumasi. She highlighted how important this initiative is for young participants. It allows them to express their views on volunteer work's value and impact.
She noted that many people in Ghana expect payment for their efforts. When they don’t receive it, they often get angry. "The spirit of volunteerism transforms a nation," she stated.
Matthew K. Asada is the Press Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Accra. He expressed satisfaction with the program's execution. He found it impressive that it included theatrical performances and a Q&A session.
The event also featured impromptu performances and improvisation by participants.
